Redoto Rescue

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 June 2026Effective date: 8 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Nemanja Andjelkovic (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares and protects information in connection with the Redoto Rescue web platform and mobile application (together, the “Service”).

Redoto Rescue is professional software used by trained Search & Rescue (SAR) organizations — such as mountain rescue services, fire and civil-protection units, and volunteer rescue teams — to coordinate missions, track field units, and manage personnel and equipment. Because lives can depend on it, we treat the data entrusted to us with the highest level of care.

By using the Service you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who we are

The data controller responsible for your information is Nemanja Andjelkovic. For any privacy question or request, contact us at office@redotorescue.com.

When a SAR organization deploys the Service for its own teams, that organization acts as the controller of its operational data and we act as a processor on its behalf. In that case, requests about operational data are best directed to your organization’s administrator.

2. Information we collect

Account & personnel data

  • Identity and contact details: name, username, email address, phone number, role within the organization.
  • Professional details relevant to rescue work: certifications, qualifications, team and region assignment, and — where your organization records it — emergency medical information (e.g. blood type, allergies) used for responder safety.
  • Authentication data: securely hashed credentials and session tokens.

Precise location data

With your permission, the mobile app collects precise GPS location while you are on duty in an active mission. This is described in detail in Section 3.

Operational content you create

  • Mission records, search sectors, base locations and points of interest you draw or mark on the map.
  • Coordinates of located persons, clues, hazards and other field observations.
  • GPS tracks recorded during a mission and GPX route files you import.
  • Mission communications, event timelines, reports, and notes.
  • Equipment, vehicle and loan records, including generated documents.

Device & technical data

  • Device model, operating system version, app version and language settings.
  • IP address and basic connection information.
  • Diagnostic and crash logs used to keep the Service reliable.

We do not collect data for advertising. We do not use advertising identifiers, and we do not build marketing profiles.

3. Location data — why and how we use it

Location is the single most important piece of information in a search and rescue operation. Redoto Rescue is a life-safety tool: precise location data is what lets a coordinator send help to the right place, account for every team member, and ensure rescuers themselves do not become lost or stranded. Below we explain exactly what we collect and why, in line with Google Play and Apple App Store requirements.

What we collect

Precise (GPS-level) location of the device, collected only from users who have a field role (e.g. Rescuer or team member) and only after they explicitly grant the operating-system location permission.

Why we need it — the specific purposes

  • Live rescuer positioning: so the mission coordinator can see where each on-duty rescuer is on the live map, direct the search efficiently, and verify everyone’s safety in real time.
  • Marking found persons, clues and hazards: a rescuer records the exact coordinates of a located person, an important clue, or a danger so that other teams and medical units can reach the spot.
  • Search sector coverage: location tracks show which terrain has actually been searched, preventing wasted effort, dangerous gaps, and duplicated searching.
  • Route recording and after-action review: tracks are recorded so the operation can be reconstructed, coordinated between overlapping teams, and documented in the official mission report.

Foreground and background location

During an active mission the app needs to share a rescuer’s position continuously, including when the phone is in a pocket or the screen is off, because rescuers operate in remote terrain where they cannot keep the app open. Where background location is used, its sole purpose is to keep an on-duty rescuer visible to their coordinator for coordination and personal safety. It is never used to track users outside of active duty.

Prominent disclosure & consent: Before any location is collected, the app shows a clear in-app explanation and requests permission. Background location is requested separately and only when a feature requires it. You may decline, and you may revoke the permission at any time in your device settings.

When collection is active — and when it stops

  • Location sharing is tied to being on duty in an active mission. It is not collected in the background of your everyday life.
  • When you go off duty, the mission ends, or you sign out, location sharing stops.
  • You can stop sharing at any time, and revoking the OS permission immediately prevents any further collection.

What we never do with location

  • We never sell location data.
  • We never use location for advertising or marketing.
  • We never share location with third parties for their own purposes.
  • Location data is used solely to operate the rescue Service for your organization.

4. How we use information

  • To operate the core Service: coordinating missions, displaying the live operational map, and managing teams, equipment and fleet.
  • To keep rescuers safe by maintaining situational awareness during active operations.
  • To generate mission reports, loan documents and audit records.
  • To authenticate users and enforce role-based access controls.
  • To maintain security, prevent abuse, and diagnose and fix technical problems.
  • To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

6. How information is shared

Within your organization

Operational data — including a rescuer’s live position during a mission — is visible to authorized members of the same organization (for example coordinators and administrators) according to their role. This visibility is the purpose of the Service.

Service providers

We use a limited number of trusted providers to host and operate the Service (for example cloud hosting, map tile providers, and crash-diagnostics). They may process data only on our instructions and under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.

Legal & safety

We may disclose information where required by law, to respond to lawful requests by public authorities, or where necessary to protect the life, safety or rights of any person.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.

7. Data retention

We keep personal and operational data for as long as your organization maintains its account and as needed to provide the Service. Mission records and audit trails may be retained longer where your organization is legally or operationally required to keep records of rescue operations. Location tracks are retained as part of the mission record; when no longer needed they are deleted or anonymized.

When an account is closed, we delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

8. How we protect data

  • Encryption of data in transit using industry-standard TLS.
  • Role-based access control, so users only see what their role permits.
  • Hashed credentials and token-based authentication.
  • Audit logging of sensitive actions.
  • Operational and organizational measures to limit access to data on a need-to-know basis.

No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we work continuously to protect the data entrusted to us.

9. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent (including location consent) at any time.

To exercise these rights, contact us at office@redotorescue.com or, if your data is managed by your SAR organization, contact your organization’s administrator. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

10. Children

The Service is intended for use by adult members of professional and volunteer rescue organizations. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Note that the coordinates of a person located during a rescue (who may be of any age) are operational data created by rescuers, not data collected from that person as a user of the app.

11. International data transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where we transfer data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to ensure it remains protected in line with applicable law.

12. Third-party services

The Service displays maps using third-party map providers and may use third-party infrastructure for hosting and crash diagnostics. These providers process limited technical data (such as IP address and map requests) to deliver their service. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you within the Service. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

14. Contact us

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, contact Nemanja Andjelkovic at office@redotorescue.com. Website: https://redotorescue.com.
